HELLO!
Friday, January 25, 2008 @ 9:00 PM
Look, a post! *gasp* You faint of shock.
January 25th. It's been, what, 23 days of school so far? Somehow I feel like it's only been about 12 days. This is probably because I hardly have time for myself now, due to the enormous amounts of homework we now have to deal with, being Sec threes and all. Plus I've got band practices thrice a week, so..
To sum it all up, school can be described in one word: HECTIC. Homework every single day (Mdm Lum makes sure of that), band pracs on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (they changed it from Tue to Mon. Isn't that great? :D), attempting to get used to the chaotic school environment once more, and so on and so forth.. I like school. I've always liked school. The fact that I love Cedar probably contributes partly to this statement, so I'm glad I love my school. Though the new school site isn't nearly as nice as the old one, it's .. alright, I guess. Not too bad.
I had a Literature day camp last Thur, Fri and Sat. It was pretty fun, actually. :D On Thursday, we were split up into groups, and my group went to Emerald Hill and Chinatown to sort of soak up the culture and the feel of the place to get us inspired for Saturday. Anyway, on Friday, Gilbert Koh and Stella Kon came to our school to talk to us about how they got inspired, etc.. Gilbert Koh has a blog where he posts his poems. They're quite nice. And Stella Kon wrote the play Emily of Emerald Hill, which is really famous. And on Saturday, we wrote our own poems! The bad news was that we had to present it in front of EVERYONE. All the sec 2s who came and the sec 3s who're taking either Literature elective or Pure Literature. Plus all the teachers, of course. I was super nervous because I still hadn't finished my poem by the time my turn was next. Yep. I finished my poem about a minute before the mic was passed to me. PHEW.
I haven't been up to much lately. Like I said, just homework and the like. Oh! Yesterday was extremely exciting! The ex-sec 4s got their O Level results yesterday. :D Naturally, we were dying to know what Ci Hui, Varruna, Tsu Wie, and Hannui had gotten, as well as Arina and Tracy, cos the current Sec 4s got their MT results yesterday too. They all did pretty well! :D
"The usual lor. 7 lor.." xD the USUAL? *shakes head sadly* Haha! I really miss the seniors, I really do. We managed to meet all of them except Varruna, cos her parents came to pick us up. ))))))))): But it's alright, she did well, at least! :DDDD And did I mention that the current Sec 4s also did well for their Mother Tongue? :D Yep, they did!
During the last period of the day, SS/Geog, none of us could concentrate, and even Mdm Faridah agreed that with all the commotion in the school, it wasn't like she could carry out her lesson anyway. So we sort of had a free period. How kind of her. :D Except she remained there for the whole period, and since Mdm Faridah is hilarious, that's a good thing. HAHA a couple of ex-Sec 4s walked by our class and said hi to her. "I'm not Mdm Faridah, I'm Mdm Audra." Lol. It was a pretty exciting day, especially cos we kept hearing that sound when they're gonna make an announcement, and we heard people mumbling into the mic and testing it. The thing is, the testing took WAY too long, and that announcement sound came on, like, five or six times (Stephanie counted. xD), which was just adding to the tension and anticipation in the air. When we FINALY heard Mrs Ou Yang's voice over the speakers, we all ssshhh-ed each other while we eagerly awaited the results.
It turns out that they did AWESOME this year, so they made today (25th) a half-day! :DDDDDDDDDDDDD Thanks to the awesome results. I was superbly happy for them cos they really have earned it. I know that a lot of pressure was put on them to do well cos they came in with the highest PSLE mean aggregate as compared to other batches, so naturally, they were expected to perform well. Which they did! :D
But it was saddening to see the sight of people crying in the hall when they got their results. Despite being told that the Sec 4s had done tremendously well, I saw quite a number of people who weren't satisfied with their results. I REALLY don't want to be crying when I get my results. I'll probably start freaking out soon that I'm not going to excel. I told myself that I would be a nerd this year (opposite of Jac, haha.) because these two years are going to be hectic and homework-filled and stressful, so I've got to pull my socks up A LOT. The ones I'm wearing now are practically invisible (so to speak).
Putting away that thought for a while, Charlene, Amirah and Sherilyn came to my house today! We ate lunch, played swings, and then headed over to my non-existent penthouse apartment to simply slack. We ended up playing Cluedo twice, with both games being won by Amirah, the possibly now aspiring detective.
I feel HAPPY! YAY! :D Maybe it's cos I finally blogged after AGES. :D So now you know I'm alive.
